Biography

Pennsylvania-born bassist Chris Lightcap can be an up-and-coming improviser who performed in more than 20 recordings from 1997-2001. Because the past due ’90s he continues to be mixed up in quartets of guitarist Joe Morris, Rob Dark brown, and Whit Dickey, in addition to in PLK Trio (with saxophonist Lisa Bird and drummer Heinrich Köbberling) and his very own quartet with drummer Gerald Cleaver and tenor saxophonists Tony Malaby and Costs McHenry. This group’s initial documenting, Lay-Up, was a nice surprise that arrived on the new Noises New Talent label in 1999. Furthermore to his documenting, Lightcap spent some time working with several esteemed improvisers, including Anthony Braxton, Lawrence “Butch” Morris, Cecil Taylor, and Archie Shepp.
