Chris Cummings


Along with his rich baritone vocal style, singer/songwriter Chris Cummings surfaced during the past due 1990s being a performer firmly within the mildew of contemporary country’s New Traditionalist movement. A indigenous of Norton, New Brunswick, he produced his public performing debut at age five, and was an area feeling throughout his youth years. At 14, Cummings self-released a cassette which produced its method to the Nashville offices of Warner/Reprise leader Jim Ed Norman, who sensed the young vocalist showed tremendous potential; exactly the same tape also captured the hearing of California businessman Peter Leggett, who provided the teenager a summer months residency performing on the Pasadena membership the Western Connection. With Leggett’s assistance, Cummings documented a fresh and improved demonstration; it too arrived on Norman’s table, and lastly the label mind contacted the youthful singer, who was simply called away from a high college math class to simply accept the phone contact from Reprise’s Nashville offices. Still, Norman thought Cummings required even more woodshedding before issuing his debut LP, therefore he spent another five years in Nashville honing his abilities being a performer and songwriter. His self-titled debut LP was initially released in his indigenous Canada in 1996, where it released the strike singles “AFFIRMED” and “I Waited; ” Chris Cummings was finally released in the U.S. in early 1998.
