b. Christopher Dennis Biscoe, 5 Feb 1947, East Barnet, Hertfordshire, Britain. Biscoe trained himself to try out alto saxophone in 1963, afterwards adding tenor, soprano and baritone saxophones as well as the relatively uncommon alto clarinet. From 1970-73 he used the National Youngsters Jazz Orchestra, after that worked with several groupings in London, including Redbrass. In 1979, he started an extended (and carrying on) association with Mike Westbrook, producing outstanding contributions to numerous Westbrook tasks, notably the brass music group (Bright As Fireplace), the orchestra (The Cortege and On Duke’s Birthday), as well as the trio (JUST A LITTLE Westbrook Music andLove ON THE MARKET). From 1983 he also caused Chris McGregor’s Brotherhood Of Breathing (Country Food preparation) and in 1985 he released a cassette of his music, Quintet And Duo, implemented the next calendar year with a sextet record, by himself Walking Hairpiece label, that highlighted Italian trombonist Danilo Terenzi.
