Created by producer Juan Carlos Cáceres, Uruguayan five-member group Chocolate debuted using the launch of Cariñito in 1997. Fuego Contra Fuego adopted in 1998. After registering to Obligado Information, a greatest-hits recording featured the worldwide hit solitary “Mayonesa.” Merging regional rhythms munga and candombe with exotic music, Chocolate became an enormous achievement in Argentina, Chile, and Paraguay. The group toured the U.S. for the very first time in 2001.
