Emerging in the height from the Brit-Asian era in the first ’80s, Chirag Pehchen successfully mixed Punjabi rhythms with reggae, ragga, hip-hop, spirit, rock and roll, and dance affects. Formed in the first ’80s by percussionist/vocalist Amarjit Sidhu, the group was noticed regularly around the LBC Radio system Geetmala as well as the BBC Television show Network East. Sidhu performed an essential part in the development of England’s Bhanga picture, arranging the annual Asian Pop honours, and starting the Kamlee record label.
