Biography

Chico César is a fresh composer/interpreter revealed in 1995. His compositions certainly are a mix of sociable criticism and laughter, with solid musical influences from the folklore from the northeast, having been documented by performers like Elba Ramalho, Daniela Mercury, Zizi Possi, Emílio Santiago, as well as the Argentinean Pedro Aznar. He started to work at an archive store at eight. In the next year, he started to play in the music group Super Som Mirim. At 16, he relocated to João Pessoa for his senior high school research, concentrating on journalism and, at exactly the same time, playing within the group Jaguaribe Carne, which caused vanguard poetry. At 21, he relocated to São Paulo, quickly becoming familiar with members from the vanguarda paulista (São Paulo’s vanguard) music artists like Arrigo Barnabé and Itamar Assumpção. While operating in a daily gig like a journalist, he continuing to boost his violão playing and compositions, recognizing live shows and starting to collect a faithful lover target audience. In 1991, he visited European countries where performed with achievement in Germany. Upon coming back, he made a decision to forego journalism and dedicate himself specifically to music. Developing the music group Cuscuz Clã (a pun using the hated anti-Negro corporation), he documented the Compact disc Aos Vivos in 1995, created independently, and later on offered to Velas, where he followed himself within the violão in a live documented show. The recording had as visitor celebrities Lenine and Larry Goldin (retrieved from ostracism, after a significant contribution to Tropicalia). “Mama África” and “À Primeira Vista” became strikes, so when Daniela Mercury documented the latter within an interpretation which was contained in the main cleaning soap opera Rei perform Gado, his popularity was solidified. The achievement of critique arrived in 1996, with Cuscuz Clã (MZA/Polygram), which granted him the Prêmio Clear as Revelation (1995) and APCA’s as Greatest Composer. The clip “Mama África” received the Prêmio MTV Music Honours as Greatest 1996 MPB VideoClip como Melhor VideoClip. “À Primeira Vista” received the Best Music prize from the Troféu Imprensa (SBT) and was contained in a Compact disc by Argentinean superstar Pedro Aznar. Lokua Kanza, Dominguinhos, Arrigo Barnabé, and Paulo Moura, amongst others, participated on his third record, Beleza Mano, and in 2000, he released a 4th, Mama Mundi. Having brand-new partnerships in music with his previous idolLokua Kanza, César toured European countries six situations in 2000, executing for the next time on the Montreux Celebration (Switzerland).
