Called after a figure in the Brendan Behan book Borstal Youngster, the South London-based electro-pop trio Chew up Lip area features singer Tigs, whose tone of voice has been in comparison to Beth Ditto, Karen O, as well as Liza Minnelli, and multi-instrumentalists Can Sanderson and Adam Watkins. The group shaped in early 2008 and had written ten tracks at their initial rehearsal, and performed their first display that springtime at a friend’s home (Tigs finished up singing together with the washer). After some more gigs, the group discovered a champ in BBC DJ Steve Lamacq, who asked Chew up Lips to execute a program on his display and invited these to play the BBC Presenting Stage in the Electric powered Proms Event that fall. After a MySpace exchange using the founder from the People from france label Kitsune, the music group released their debut solitary, “Single,” around the imprint early in ’09 2009; the track showcased Chew Lip area’ distinctive mixture of brassy woman vocals and Casiotone is better than and melodies. The solitary “Salt Air flow,” which presented a video directed by Man vs. Magnet, adopted that summer time. Their debut recording, Unicorn, made an appearance in January 2010, as do the Play Collectively EP.
