The Cheater Slicks started in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1988, when brothers Tom and David Shannon — both guitarists — recruited drummer Dana Hatch and bassist Merle Allin (sibling of G.G. Allin) to try out in an unique, bluesy garage rock-band. After Allin, the Slicks used Alpo (previously of the true Children) on bass before scrapping the bassist idea totally and buying a three-piece lineup. In 1990, the Cheater Slicks opened up for Jon Spencer’s music group, Manager Hog. The display made a lover from Spencer and began a working a friendly relationship between your eclectic indie rocker as well as the Slicks. Spencer created the band’s 4th album, CAN’T STAND You, in 1995. In debt Records released CAN’T STAND You a yr later, releasing the Slicks on the tour with Spencer’s like-sounding music group, the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. The Cheater Slicks’ noisy, trashy make of rock and roll & move also connected them through to tours with rings like Mudhoney, who finished up covering a few of their tracks. By 1997, the Cheater Slicks relocated to Columbus, Ohio, plus they released their first double-album, known as Forgive Thee, on In debt. Two years later on, they released their 6th full-length, entitled Refried Dreams. The music group continuing to record and perform through another 2 decades — an interval that included the albums Yer Last Record (2003), Head into the ocean (2007), Bats within the Dead Trees and shrubs (2009), and Our Meals Is definitely Chaos: The Allen Paulino Program (2011).
