Charlie McCoy

Together with his older brother Joe, the versatile Charlie McCoy positioned among the fantastic blues accompanists of his era, his nimble, sensitive guitar function enriching recordings from performers including Tommy Johnson and Ishmon Bracey. Created May 26, 1909 in Jackson, MS, the self-taught McCoy was documenting regularly from the past due ’20s, frequently alongside Walter Vincson; he also sat along with the Mississippi Sheiks, Rubin Lacy, Child Spand, and the countless additional Delta bluesmen who approved through the Jackson region in the years to check out, occasionally showing up on not merely acoustic guitar but also mandolin (the second option especially on his mid-’30s classes support sister-in-law Memphis Minnie).
