Biography
An excellent saxophonist with an adventurous design, Charles Owens has spent a lot of his profession in low-profile positions or in pretty anonymous configurations. Owens went to the College or university of NORTH PARK, served within the armed forces and after his release he went to the Berklee University of Music. He toured using the Pal Affluent Orchestra from 1967-68 and was with Mongo Santarmaria for the next 2 yrs. Settling in LA, Owens became a active studio room musician; he performed practically all the reed musical instruments, including oboe and British horn. Among his even more significant jazz organizations since shifting to L.A. have already been Bobby Bryant, Henry Franklin, Patrice Rushen, the Gerald Wilson Orchestra, Adam Newton, John Carter, Horace Tapscott, the Clayton/Hamilton Jazz Orchestra and his very own groups. Owens, that has first noises on each of his horns, must have been well-known within the jazz globe in the past but so far he provides just led two albums of his very own, both lower for Breakthrough (in 1978 and 1980) and lengthy out of print out.
