Charles Crawford

Spirit singer Charles Crawford released only one, “A Sad Sad Music”/”Body fat ‘N Funky,” for the Hy-Sign label in Shreveport, LA in 1973. “A Sad Sad Music” was a sluggish ballad quite definitely in the pleading Otis Redding design, prefaced by an extended spoken intro that, even from the requirements of spirit music, wallowed in bathos. It has been reissued within the Kent compilation Shreveport Southern Spirit: The Murco Tale.
