Charles Adams Prince

Charles Adams Prince was one particular rare performers, a versatile, chameleonic performer whose skills and achievements haven’t been adequately appreciated. He was among the 1st music artists to record (1891), the first ever to record a Classical orchestral function for Columbia Information (1917), and his music group was the first ever to record a jazz piece, W.C. Handy’s St. Louis Blues (1915). Prince was a composer — eventually of small significance — a pianist, organist, and conductor. He also kept many musical administrative articles and was one particular apparently ubiquitous performers whose actions spilled over into many styles of music.
