Departing Camera Obscura and NORTH PARK behind, Russell White colored and Michelle Maskovich became a member of bassist Jesse Johnson (Johnny Angel) in Minneapolis to create Champagne Kiss. Unlike the lovely sounding name, Champagne Kiss prefers an audio even more jarring and dissonant. And unlike the greater traditional — fairly speaking — Video camera Obscura, Champagne Kiss mixes plenty of sampling, keyboards, and electronica with acoustic guitar, bass, and drums. They’ve actually been seen using a drum arranged which includes a garbage can and cover. The band’s self-titled debut made an appearance on Troubleman Unlimitedin 2000.
