The musical traditions of Rwanda supply the foundation for soulful vocalist and composer Cecile Kayirebwa. A founding person in the Rwanda Track and Dance Group since 1961, Kayirebwa offers continuing her musical history as an associate of Belgium-based African rings Bula Sangome and Arcadia so when a soloist. Kayirebwa’s early passions in traditional music had been strengthened when she journeyed, like a welfare official, to all parts of Rwanda. Departing her native nation, after her mom visited live with a Frenchman within the remote control Belgian town of Lozere, Kayirebwa quickly modified to her fresh home. Understanding how to speak French, she started performing French variations of music by Stevie Question and Jimmy Cliff in regional discotheques. In 1983, she analyzed traditional music in the Royal Museum of Central Africa in Terveuren, Belgium. The next year, she became a member of Bula Sangoma. After documenting an individual, “Amour Sucre,” with Arcadia, a bilingual group that she shaped with a pal, Kayirebwa documented her first record, Music From Rwanda, with accompaniment by Nzongo Spirit. Furthermore to original tracks, the record included Rwandan pop music and tracks by Jean-Christophe Mutata. Kayirebwa provides continued to make use of her music as a car for attracting interest and raising money for Hope, the kids of one thousand Hillsides, a charity firm that she shaped with Christine Coppel.
