Cassietta George

The potent, clarion voice of Cassietta George rips through crowds using a moving, joyful noise. Though she got a distinguished single career through the ’60s and ’70s, many still very best remember George on her behalf work with one of the better all-female gospel quartets ever, the Caravans, where she was among the business lead singers and an integral songwriter. George was created in Memphis, Tennessee. When she was four, she started performing in her father’s cathedral. Before getting associated with the Caravans in 1954, George got experience performing with various other quartets, and her design was heavily inspired by that of Clara Ward. Within the seminal group, she sang beside such greats as Adam Cleveland, Albertina Walker, Inez Andrews, Delores Washington and Shirley Caesar, but just spent per year together before departing. George returned towards the Caravans in 1960 and sang together for another five years. From then on, she launched an effective solo career, documenting over ten albums in LA for Sound Arts, Inc., touring continuously and composing over 100 songs. On the way, George was double nominated to get a Grammy.
