Vocalist/songwriter Carter Tanton makes yearning, somewhat lo-fi option nation and folk-influenced rock and roll. A Baltimore, Maryland indigenous, Tanton released his solo debut recording, Birds & Rainfall, in 2005 before shifting to Boston and developing the indie rock and roll clothing Tulsa. After liberating an EP along with a full-length record with 2007’s I USED TO BE Submerged, label and legalities stalled the group’s sophomore work and Tulsa disbanded. Tanton transformed course and became a member of indie vocalist/songwriter Marissa Nadler’s ensemble, assisting to record and discharge her 2011 self-titled record. Also in 2011, Tanton came back to his single career using the record Freeclouds.
