Though they scored few hits and leaned toward the wimpish end from the British Invasion range, John Carter and Ken Lewis gave ’60s rock and roll way too many intriguing footnotes to become dismissed. At night times of pre-Beatles English rock & move, the duo, who began documenting in 1961, was among the few U.K. performers to tread an unabashedly rock and roll path and create their own materials. Jimmy Web page was briefly an associate, adding his nascent acoustic guitar to several their singles in 1963. The set sang backup harmonies on some of the Who’s early recordings, rang up strikes as members from the Ivy Little league, and hit the very best Ten as market leaders from the Flowerpot Males using their borderline hippie satire “Let’s Head to SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA.” Plus they published “A small amount of Spirit,” an enormous punk/bubblegum strike for the Music Explosion in 1967.
