b. Carson Raymond Smith, 9 January 1931, SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, California, USA, d. 2 November 1997, NEVADA, Nevada USA. Smith’s family members moved to LA while he was still a kid, but, after completing his schooling, he initial tried employed in the brand new York region. Although he was an excellent bass player, function was scarce and in 1952 he came back to LA, where he quickly found function in Gerry Mulligan’s renowned quartet alongside Chet Baker. Mulligan not merely utilized his playing skills but also documented a few of his compositions, and afterwards acknowledged that a few of Smith’s tips helped to form the audio and design of the group.
