Reared in Austin, Tx, and schooled at Boston’s Berklee University of Music, the fiddle-playing singer/songwriter Carrie Rodriguez produced her documenting debut in 2002 by adding to Chip Taylor’s Let’s Keep This City. Taylor had initial heard Rodriguez on the 2001 South by Southwest meeting and subsequently asked her to tour alongside him, which she do for quite some time. The duo also released many collaborative albums, which allowed Rodriguez to display her fiddle knowledge while gradually sharpening her songwriting prowess. She released her single debut, Seven Angels on the Bike, in 2006. She Ain’t Me implemented two years afterwards, featuring an elevated focus on Rodriguez’s vocals. Reside in Louisville, documented during her 2007 tour with Lucinda Williams, made an appearance in ’09 2009. Like and Situation, an recording of addresses of classic like songs, found its way to 2010. That same yr, Rodriguez released the compilation recording THE BRAND NEW Bye & Bye, offering four new tracks with Taylor. Rodriguez shifted gears with Lola, released on her behalf own Luz Information label in the wintertime of 2016. The music included ranchera-inspired originals in British, Spanish, and “Spanglish,” and Spanish tracks written by a few of her preferred Mexican composers. The arranged was made by Lee Townsend and presented the Sacred Hearts, an all-star music group that included guitarists Expenses Frisell and David Pulkingham, bassist Viktor Krauss, Luke Jacobs on pedal metal, and Brannen Temple on drums and percussion. Vocalists Raul Malo and Gina Chavez, and Grammy Award-winning bajo sexto participant Utmost Baca, also produced appearances for the recording.
