Carrie Elkin

In comparison to Patty Griffin, Iris DeMent, and Nanci Griffith by legendary Radio 2 DJ Bob Harris, singer/songwriter Carrie Elkin’s exclusive sound includes alt-country, Americana, and traditional folk with heartfelt poetic lyrics. Delivered in Cleveland, OH in 1974, Elkin started playing the saxophone and performing at her regional church from a age before contending being a Country wide Champ acro gymnast. After learning physiology at Ohio School, and functioning as a natural chemist, she made a decision to focus on a musical profession, and embarked on the nomadic way of living which lasted for over ten years, performing in a variety of clubs and documenting many self-funded albums, including 1996 debut Simpleness, 2001’s Live at the front end Area, and 2004’s The Waltz, before finally settling in Austin, TX in 2007. Following positive response to her 5th LP, The Jeopardy of Situation, she toured both U.S. and U.K. thoroughly, appeared on many of partner Danny Schmidt’s albums, and agreed upon to Grammy Award-winning folk label Crimson House Records this year 2010, the same season she released her best and critically acclaimed function, Contact It My Backyard.
