Carolyn Mark

Canadian alt-country singer/songwriter Carolyn Tag was created and raised in Sicamous, English Columbia, growing through to her family’s dairy products plantation. Taught piano by her dad, himself an achieved violinist, she surfaced in 1991 as an associate from the Victoria, B.C.-centered all-girl rock combo the Vinaigrettes, touring Canada as well as the traditional western U.S. relentlessly on the following seven years. Following the group’s 1998 dissolution, Tag created the Corn Sisters, a duo with fellow insurgent nation diva Neko Case. A live show in Seattle constituted their 2000 debut, ANOTHER Women. Tag also installed a solo profession, supported by guitarist Tolan McNeil and drummer Garth Johnson (her real-life housemates, therefore their professional moniker the Room-Mates), and after putting your signature on towards the Mint label, she once again hit the street. Her 2000 single debut, Party Lady, assembled 11 tunes slice across Canada, a minumum of one from each province. Mark’s long-standing desire for the traditional Robert Altman film Nashville resulted in the 2002 launch of the all-star tribute towards the movie’s soundtrack, with efforts from Case, Kelly Hogan, the brand new Pornographers’ Carl Newman, along with other stalwarts from the Canadian indie picture; her sophomore single effort, the wonderful Terrible Hostess, adopted that summer. Performers such as for example Kelly Hogan, Pepper Sands’ Greg MacDonald, Diona Davies of Po’ Lady, and Paul Rigby became a member of Tag for her 4th album, 2004’s THE PROFESSIONALS and Negatives of Cooperation. Another collaborative work, Just Wedded: An Recording of Duets, adopted in the summertime of 2005 as Tag protected a wide-ranging group of tracks from David Bowie to Hank Williams. The periods for her even more introspective 2007 follow-up, THERE IS NOTHING Free, occurred in a community hall on United kingdom Columbia’s Salt Springtime Island. In ’09 2009, Tag teamed up with Toronto-based alt-country musician NQ Arbuckle to record Let’s Simply Stay Right here, an record which gained them a 2010 Juno nomination for Root base & Traditional Record of the entire year. Time for her solo function, she released her 8th record, Queen of Vancouver Isle, in 2012. Arrive! Back! Particular!, released in 2016, was Mark’s initial work for the Fontana-distributed, artist-run indie Roaring Female Records.
