Carnival Season

Carnival Season were a music group in the incorrect place at the incorrect period; if they’d been located in Seattle in 1988 or Minneapolis in 1983, they might have fit ideal along with their peers, however in Birmingham, AL in 1985, their combination of hard rock and roll acoustic guitar, thoughtful but streetwise lyrics, and music that were intense and tuneful simultaneously produced them an anomaly, and in a community where alternate rock and roll had trouble getting a foothold, they by no means gained the bigger target audience their music deserved. Originally called Karnival Time of year, the music group was created in 1984 by guitarist and vocalist Tim Boykin and bassist Brad Quinn, both of whom had been refreshing out of senior high school and thinking about playing rock and roll & move. Boykin and Quinn teamed up with guitarist Ed Reynolds and drummer Tag Reynolds; the music group started gigging frequently at a Birmingham golf club known as The Nick and released short trips through the South. Karnival Time of year released a three-song 7″ on Rat’s Bane Information, as well as the group captured the ear of the A&R guy from MCA Information, who organized for the music group to cut a couple of demos with Tim Lee from the Windbreakers generating. MCA offered the music group, but the English label HOW ARE YOU AFFECTED loved the tapes, and having caused another Birmingham action, the Primitons, they agreed upon the now properly spelled Carnival Period to an archive offer. Mats Roden from the Primitons created a three-song EP that premiered by What CONTINUES ON in 1986, which proclaimed their initial recordings being a trio pursuing Ed Reynolds’ departure in the music group. Carnival Season continuing to tour and performed frequently on the home turf, starting shows for famous brands the Meats Puppets, Redd Kross, Drivin’ n’ Cryin’, as well as the Substitutes, whose guitarist Bob Stinson spoken up the music group in Matter newspaper, stating “You couldn’t help but like ‘em, these were just that great.” In early 1987, Carnival Period made their method to Rockville, MD to record their debut record, Waiting for NO-ONE, with pop electric guitar icon Tommy Keene making. The few testimonials Waiting for NO-ONE received after its discharge in early 1988 had been enthusiastic, but also for the most component the music press disregarded the disk, and a following West Coastline tour (with brand-new second guitarist Chuck Quinn) was small lacking devastating. Convinced they’d skipped the brass band, Carnival Season performed a small number of regional gigs before contacting it quits in middle-1989. Tim Boykin continued to try out with a number of rock and roll and pop rings in the South, like the Pity Idols as well as the Lolas, while Brad Quinn offers documented and toured thoroughly with Tommy Keene and Tag Reynolds offers remained energetic in music. In nov 2007, Carnival Time of year performed a reunion display at their older stomping grounds The Nick, and this year 2010 Arena Rock and roll Recording Organization released Misguided Guarantee, a thorough compilation offering everything the music group released along with many previously unheard demos and live recordings.
