Carlos Rennó

The writer and poet Carlos Rennó in addition has penned song lyrics together with Lenine (“Tubi Tupi,” included on the CD Na Pressão, as well as others still unpublished), Lula Queiroga, Arrigo Barnabé, Gilberto Gil, Chico César, Peninha, Rita Lee, Skowa, Tetê Espíndola, and Tom Zé. Rennó has already established his songs documented by Gilberto Gil, Rita Lee, Tom Zé, Gal Costa, Ney Matogrosso, Tetê Espíndola, and Vânia Bastos. In 1982, Eliete Negreiros interpreted his track “Outros Sons” (created with Arrigo Barnabé) in the MPB Shell Event, for the Globo systems. In 1985, he received the Event dos Festivais (Globo Systems) with “Escrito nas Estrelas” (with Arnaldo Dark), performed by Tetê Espíndola. In 1991, he released the publication Cole Porter: Cançõsera, Versões, using the involvement of Augusto de Campos and Caetano Veloso. The task consisted in thorough variations of Cole Porter’s tracks in Brazilian Portuguese. From 1993 to 1995, Rennó coordinated the music portion of the Museu da Imagem e perform Som de São Paulo (Picture and Audio Museum of São Paulo), where he marketed two occasions: Sempre Novas (classics of Brazilian well-known music as noticed by contemporary performers) and Encontros Com o Século 20 (specialized in contemporary classical functions). In 1996, he arranged the reserve Gilberto Gil: Todas as Letras, where Gil remarks on his lyrics using the involvement of José Miguel Wisnik and Arnaldo Antunes. In 2000, his 1991 task about Cole Porter was extended, including functions by George Gershwin, and in addition had the partner Compact disc Cole Porter, George Gershwin: Cançõha sido e Versõha sido released by Gilberto Gil’s label Geléia Geral. The tracks by both American composers had been performed by Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Tom Zé, Chico Buarque, Elza Soares, Rita Lee, Cássia Eller, Zélia Duncan, and Ed Motta, amongst others.
