Carlos Gonzaga

Carlos Gonzaga is well known among the most significant singers of ballads in the past due ’50s in Brazil. He began his career very much previously though, in the ’40s, interpreting an array of designs, from bolero, samba, calypso, and tango to fox trot. In 1946 he released songwriter Fred Jorge, documenting his “Velha Paineira” (RCA Victor). In 1957 he began a new stage of his profession using the 78 rpm “Meu Fingimento” (Haroldo Barbosa’s edition for “THE FANTASTIC Pretender,” popular from the Platters). In 1958 his documenting of Fred Jorge’s edition of Paul Anka’s “Diana” brought him great acclaim, also launched Jorge, who became the primary interpretive author of Brazilian pop. Gonzaga would record a lot of Jorge’s variations of tunes, including “O Diário” (Sedaka/Greenfield) and “Meu Coração Canta” (Rome/Jamblam/Herpin). In 1962 Gonzaga experienced achievement with “Volte Diana” and made an appearance on film performing “Dorinha no Thereforeçaite.” In 1967, having for the reason that 12 months documented the singles “Coração de Jacaré” and “Só European union e Você” (a edition by Lílian Knapp of “There’s some sort of Hush”), and currently feeling the fat old, he began to dedicate himself to a repertory of Carnival marches. Gonzaga sang “Quizumba” and “Jardim perform Amor,” associated the motion of RCA toward a field of expertise in samba, as well as made an appearance on compilations for the Carnival vacation. But he remained within the variables from the Jovem Guarda (“Little Safeguard”), and in 1966 he was among the performers invited to become listed on Jerry Adriani’s display Excelsior A CHANCE Go at Television Excelsior. Within the next season he had achievement with “Juramento de Playboy.” In the 70s, he came back to RCA and re-recorded his first hits from the 50s, having also participated in the soundtrack for the Estúpido Cupido cleaning soap opera. He still includes a faithful market, for whom he previously released series in 1994 and 2000 (BMG).
