Biography

A gifted R&B singer whose cool yet passionate style is a good match for his flexible vocal abilities, Carl Thomas was created in Aurora, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago) in June 15, 1972. After graduating from senior high school, Thomas transferred to Chicago to go after a profession in music, and for some time sang using a vocal group known as the Fourmula, who have scored a minor strike in 1994 using the tune “Move It Over.” Within the mid-’90s, Thomas relocated to Brooklyn, NY, and started playing open-mike evenings and display gigs hoping of earning a name for himself like a single designer. In 1997, Thomas was noticed at one particular overall performance by Sean “Puffy” Combs (aka P Diddy and Puff Daddy), who loved what he noticed and promptly authorized the vocalist to his Poor Boy Entertainment label. In the beginning, Thomas sang R&B-styled backups on classes for hip-hop functions like the Notorious B.We.G., the LOX, LL Great J, N.O.R.E., and Puff Daddy, and it wasn’t until 2000 that Thomas’ 1st full-length recording, Emotional, premiered. On the effectiveness of the strike singles “I Want” and “Summer season Rainfall,” Emotional offered more than a million copies, nonetheless it will be four years (designated by a lot of touring and so many more visitor places on albums by others) before Thomas released his follow-up. The timing of 2004’s Let’s DISCUSS It proved regrettable; Thomas’ brother passed away as the consequence of a drive-by capturing soon before it arrived, and the vocalist opted never to tour as he handled the psychological fallout, which jeopardized the album’s promotional marketing campaign. With time, Thomas dissolved his romantic relationship with Poor Boy, and he was briefly authorized to Interscope, adding vocals to “Dumpin’,” a monitor within the posthumous 2Pac recording Pac’s Existence, released in 2006. That same yr, Thomas became a member of Yolanda Adams, Chaka Khan, and Gerald Levert to record the melody “Everyday (Family members Reunion)” for the film Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Family members Reunion; the functionality gained a Grammy nomination. In 2007, Thomas’ third record, So FAR BETTER, was released with the indie Umbrella label. In early 2011, Thomas agreed upon a new cope with Verve Music, and his 4th record, Conquer, premiered in December of this year.
