US rock-band Carillo took their name from singer/guitarist Frank Carillo, formerly of Doc Vacation (never to be baffled with Doc Holliday). Shaped in 1977 with Jan Mullaney (keyboards), Jimmy Haslip (bass) and David Donen (drums), Carillo produced their debut in 1978 with Bands ACROSS THE Moon for Atlantic Information. Expertly performed but missing the influence of Carillo’s prior function, the follow-up collection, Roads Of Dreams, was an excellent improvement along with a go back to the bracing hard rock and roll design of Doc Vacation. Nevertheless, with flagging product sales Atlantic didn’t renew the group’s agreement, and Mullaney and Haslip continued to utilize Blackjack.
