Carey Johnson

b. c.1951, Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies. Johnson originally proved helpful at Coxsone Dodd’s Studio room One where he documented, ‘Scorcher’. The achievement of his debut resulted in the predictably entitled, ‘Even more Scorcher’, but also the edifying ‘Contact 1143’ as well as the eloquent ‘Connection Teach’. In the first 70s Johnson teamed up alongside Lloyd Little in the Groovers (greatest appreciated for the strike, ‘I Want TO RETURN House’). The mixture referred to as Carey And Lloyd embarked on periods with Joe Gibbs, which led to the discharge of, ‘Joshua Row Us House’ to get the past due Michael Manley’s politics campaign. The duo dropped out of style in the past due 70s and for that reason Johnson maintained a minimal profile before middle-80s, when ‘Bubbles’ Cameron of Uhuru productions created ‘Real Style Reggae Style’. Johnson’s strike was certified to a significant label (influenced by their achievement with Maxi Priest) that led to a UK Best 20 strike and spent eight weeks within the graph. The music was nearer to calypso using the horn section developing a carnival experience and became the Caribbean summer season anthem of 1987. Johnson implemented the strike with ‘Regular Jamaican’ but provides since kept a minimal profile.
