Carrying within the custom of bands just like the Pale Fountains and Moose, Michael Smalle, Shane Burke, Colm Hogan, Ronan Burke, Paul Brennan, and Gerard Connolly are Cane 141, a music group that performs a breezy make of processed indie pop embellished by synthesizers along with a slew of other tools – from turntables to woodwinds to strings – added by way of a small cast of assisting music artists. They’ve also used several more experimental affects such as Metallic Apples, Pere Ubu, and Popol Vuh, plus they mix their disparate affects together for a fairly unique mix. Picture from 6AM, their debut LP, premiered by Key in 1998. They hopped to Setanta for 2000’s Backyard Tiger Moth.
