Candy Claws

A desire pop ensemble captivated by the noises of nature aswell as those created by humans, Candy Claws will be the brainchild of longtime close friends Kay Bertholf and Ryan Hover. Located in Fort Collins, CO, Candy Claws started when Bertholf and Hover started writing songs collectively, reflecting their distributed interests in consumer electronics, droning shoegaze rock and roll, and traditional psychedelic pop. In 2007, the set started recording materials in Hover’s house studio aswell as throughout their moves — Bertholf taking ocean noises during a visit to Italy and Hover documenting noises of character while going to his family members in the Philippines, which was included to their music. When Bertholf and Hover uncovered Rachel Carson’s traditional book on sea life THE OCEAN ALL AROUND US, it became an essential inspiration, and up to date the design and structure from the initial Candy Claws record, In the Imagine the Sea Lifestyle. Originally released in ’09 2009 with the small Wave Magic label, In the Imagine the Sea Lifestyle was found for release with the reputed Irish indie label Indiecater Information and gained enthusiastic reviews in the worldwide music press. This year 2010, Candy Claws released their second record, Concealed Lands, through Twosyllable Information; like their debut, Hidden Lands was motivated with a book in the organic world, THE TRICK Life from the Forest by Richard M. Ketchum. By this time around, Bertholf and Hover acquired assembled an extended eight-piece edition of Chocolate Claws to execute their music live, and made an appearance at venues through the entire United States.
