Camp Creek Boys

Although primarily formed within the 30s, the Camp Creek Young boys, an old-time mountain string band, made their name within the music following recordings manufactured in the 60s. They started in the Blue Ridge Mountains section of Surrey Region, North Carolina. Music artists who used the music group consist of Kyle Creed (the first choice, who both produced and performed banjos), Fred Cockerham (b. 3 November 1905, d. 8 July 1980; fiddle/banjo), Paul Sutphin (b. 1 Oct 1918, Round Recreation area Hill, NEW YORK, USA, d. 28 August 2004, Support Airy, NEW YORK, USA; acoustic guitar), Roscoe Russell (acoustic guitar), Verlen Clifton (mandolin), Ronald Collins (acoustic guitar) and Ernest East (fiddle). Primarily they played regional occasions, fiddle conventions and made an appearance on regional radio. Through the 60s, working in the Galax region, they gained a significant reputation for their ability, due to the extra music artists, to play a far more popular type of music than that always from the three-instrument line-up of hill string bands. Nevertheless, Creed and Cockerham do still perform a number of the old-time banjo/fiddle music through the music group’s normal looks. The recordings they designed for Hill and Region are graded as one of the better ever made of the kind of music.
