Camberwell Now

An extension or pseudo-continuation of the Warmth, Camberwell Now was a collaboration between previous Gong which Warmth member Charles Hayward (drums, vocals), Stephen Rickard (field recordings, studio room recordings, tape manipulation), and Trefor Goronwy (bass, vocals, ukulele). Collectively, they continuing in the vein of the Heat’s restless experimentation with studio room trickery and the usage of electronics. While collectively, the trio released two EPs and one full-length. They debuted in 1983 within the Duplicate label using the Meridians EP; after putting your signature on with Switzerland’s Suggested Information imprint, they released The Ghost Trade LP in 1986 as well as the Greenfingers EP in 1987. All’s Well, a Compact disc compilation of their previously released materials, was released in 1992, many years following the group’s dissolution. Hayward continued to release many single recordings for Sub Rosa and Locus Solus.
