Calobo

The seeds from the Portland, OR-based music group Calobo were originally planted in the first ’90s, when its founding people (and longtime friends), Caleb Klauder and David “Hobo” Andrews, began writing and playing music on Orcas Island in Washington Condition. Both members performed classical guitar (with Klauder recognized to grab a mandolin every once in awhile), and had been soon became a member of by other people — Jenny Conlee on piano, Kenneth Erlick on guitar, Michelle Vehicle Kleef on vocals, Nate Query on bass, and Brian Bucolo on drums. Combining their folk affects with very long and winding passages from such renowned jam music group trailblazers as the Thankful Dead as well as the Allman Brothers, Calobo instantly built a big and devoted cult pursuing in the Pacific Northwest. Authorized to the 3rd party Padre label in the middle-’90s, the sextet offers released five albums — 1995’s self-titled debut, 1997’s Stomp, 1998’s Operating in the River and Ya Dum Di Dum, and 1998’s Live in the Crystal Ballroom.
