C.J. Chenier

The son lately zydeco music pioneer Clifton Chenier, C.J. Chenier (blessed Clayton Joseph Chenier) continues to be dubbed “the crown prince of zydeco.” Since inheriting command of his father’s group, the Crimson Sizzling hot Louisiana Band, Chenier provides continued to pay for tribute to his father’s audio and to broaden the zydeco custom. Chenier’s passions in zydeco had been sparked in his early twenties. Although he examined piano in the 3rd grade, switched towards the saxophone a calendar year afterwards, and received a scholarship or grant to review music at Tx Southern School, he was attracted to the funky noises of R&B and contemporary jazz. In 1978, Chenier was asked to displace saxophonist “Blind” John Hart in his father’s music group. Although he previously little knowledge with zydeco music, he recognized the invitation. Documented live in an individual session at Rock and roll Romano’s Crimson Shack Studio room in Houston, Tx, the high-energy Can’t SIT BACK made an appearance in 2011, also from Globe Village.
