Butterfield 8

Butterfield 8 (additionally written BUtterfield 8) were the brainchild of previous Higsons multi-instrumentalist Terry Edwards (b. 10 August 1960, Hornchurch, Essex, Britain) in cooperation with ex-Madness bass participant Tag ‘Bedders’ Bedford (b. 24 August 1961, London, Britain). Edwards’ long-time desire for film and display scores fused along with his like of blues-tinged jazz in Butterfield 8. The music group provided a pleasant outlet following the restriction from the funk-influenced Higsons. Called following the 1960 film starring Laurence Harvey and Elizabeth Taylor, Butterfield 8’s debut recording included variations of Herbie Hancock’s ‘Watermelon Man’ as well as the Viscounts’ ‘Harlem Nocturne’.
