Butcher the Bar

Butcher the Club may be the nom de plume of indie folk singer/songwriter Joel Nicholson. Located in Rotherham, UK, his thoughtfully crafted melodies are augmented by his soft vocals, similar to a far more hopeful Elliott Smith. He started writing music for Butcher the Club in 2007, debuting that calendar year using a 7″ like the melody “ESCAPE,” later highlighted in an bout of the action-comedy Television series Chuck. Full-length debut Rest at Your Very own Speed implemented in 2008, getting Nicholson on acoustic guitar, melodica, banjo, and accordion to handle coming-of-age styles. For sophomore saving For Each another Tethered, released in 2011, the addition of horns, reeds, and piano culminated in lush preparations in the vein of Australian indie pop trio the Lucksmiths.
