Blessed in 1953 in Kirklareli, a community in Thrace (the Euro place of Turkey), the multi-instrumentalist and composer Burhan Oçal was raised in a music family members. From his dad he learned a number of percussion equipment, while his mom presented him to spiritual vocal music. His primary equipment are darbuka (a vase-shaped drum used the fingertips), kös (kettle drum), kudüm, and bendi; he also sings and has saz, tanbur, and oud, furthermore to composing. He shifted to Züwealthy in 1977, but he quickly moved back again to the greater thrilling environment of Istanbul, where he liked a deep network of contacts with local music artists. His percussive abilities have been popular by many players, in jazz and well-known music (Sting asked him on-stage in Istanbul in 2000); however the most interesting elements of his creation are his personal tasks: Jardin Ottoman (Harmonia Mundi, 1996) focused on Turkish traditional music from the 17th hundred years; the Oriental Outfit which performs traditional Gypsy and Turkish folk music (Gypsy Rum, 1995). His group of Soundways centered on traditional repertoire as well as the wildly different duo with digital musician Pete Namlook (Sultan Osman, 2000). The unparalleled alliance with harmolodic electrical bass participant Jamaaladeen Tacuma (a regular visitor to Istanbul) offered delivery to Groove Alla Turca (Doublemoon, 2000), an Oriental/funk/hip-hop music group where Oçal’s Oriental players fulfill much jazz group, including ex-Charles Mingus trumpeter Jack port Walrath and graced from the tone of voice of Turkish/American rapper Sultana. The group developed a feeling in jazz celebrations and clubs all around the globe.
