Bud Scott

A top tempo banjoist who was simply prized for his advanced harmonies and occasionally took fundamental solos, Bud Scott performed using the who’s-who of New Orleans jazz throughout his profession. In early stages he learned acoustic guitar and violin and was a specialist musician before he was an adolescent. Scott was a fresh Orleans pioneer, declaring years later on to been employed by with Friend Bolden. He certainly used John Robichaux’s Orchestra as soon as 1904, Freddie Keppard’s Olympia Orchestra, among others. In 1913 he continued the road like a violinist using the Billy Ruler Traveling Show, employed in Mobile phone and Washington before shifting to NY in 1915. Scott performed with theatre orchestras, performed banjo with Bob Youthful in Baltimore (1917), and in addition worked like a vocalist. He was with Can Marion Cook’s Orchestra in 1921, relocated to Chicago, worked well for 90 days with Ruler Oliver’s Creole Jazz Music group in 1923, spent period playing with Child Ory in California, experienced second stints with both Oliver and Ory, and in addition used Curtis Mosby’s Blue Blowers in LA. Following a third period with Oliver in 1926, Scott performed using the rings of Erskine Tate, Dave Peyton, and in 1928 with Jimmie Noone’s Apex Golf club Orchestra. He documented thoroughly with Jelly Move Morton and caused Fess Williams and Peyton once again prior to the banjoist resolved in LA in Sept 1929. In L.A., Scott used Leon Herriford, Mutt Carey’s Jeffersonians and along with his personal trio. Scott obtained some prominence when he caused Child Ory during 1944-1948 before sick health pressured his pension. He made an appearance with Louis Armstrong within the 1946 film New Orleans and experienced an opportunity to record with Satch. Furthermore to Morton, Armstrong, and Ory, Scott documented with Ruler Oliver, Johnny Dodds, and Jimmie Noone, amongst others.
