Bucketrider is a high-octane avant-garde jazz group from Australia. Cross-generational and cross-stylistic, the machine allies the fresh energy of punk rock and roll with cool horn lines, jazz licks, and Sunlight Ra-derived free of charge improvisation. Despite the fact that by 2002 the group still acquired to execute its initial concert beyond its home nation, its CDs (all released on the tiny indie label Dr Jim’s Information) have appreciated airplay on university radio in European countries and THE UNITED STATES. The machine was founded in the middle-’90s by three music artists energetic on broadly different fronts of avant-garde music: drummer Sean Baxter, saxophonist Tim O’Dwyer, and microtonal bassist David Dark brown. While the previous two were within their twenties at that time, the last mentioned had been energetic on the Australian music picture (including a stint with hard rockers AC/DC) when Baxter and O’Dwyer had been still comfortably going swimming in their moms’ wombs. Right away, the group followed a loose geometry settings, the trio developing the nucleus. Extra music artists, generally horn players, had been initial added on the need-to-play basis, but by 2000 the lineup experienced crystallized inside a quintet with Adam Simmons (reeds) and Wayne Wilkinson (trombone) completing the rates. Bucketrider quickly founded a reputation like a crazy live take action in Melbourne and Sydney and heartily jumped up to speed when Oren Ambarchi began his WHAT’S Music? festival, ultimately learning to be a fixture of the function while also showing up in the Melbourne International Jazz Festival. Dr Jim released their 1st two CDs in 1999, The Adoration from the Lamb and Guignol’s Music group. On-stage, the group offers collaborated with dancers (Sandra Parker’s Dance Functions), songs composers (Kate Neal as well as the Libra ensemble), and offered tribute concerts of Sunlight Ra and John Coltrane’s music. The discharge of Le Baphomet in past due 2001 offered a straight sharper, more described sound.
