Given birth to and raised in Sweden, Bruno Råberg is a flexible acoustic bassist whose introspective, probing post-bop and mildly avant-garde jazz offers often favored an ECM-like strategy. Like additional Nordic jazzmen, he occasionally incorporates components of Scandinavian folk. Råberg was just 20 when, in 1974, he was employed like a sideman by Swedish trombonist Eje Thelin; consequently, he relocated to the U.S. and finished up spending a lot of his adult existence in the Boston region. The bassist relocated to Boston in 1981 when he was granted a scholarship or grant to the brand new Britain Conservatory. After graduating in 1984 having a B.A. in jazz research, Råberg continued to become a co-employee professor in the exclusive Berklee University of Music. The Swede documented three CDs like a innovator in the 1990s: 1992’s Pentimento on Boston Skyline, 1996’s Orbis on Orbis Music, and 1999’s Existence on Orbis Music.
