Bruce Waddell

Also sometimes referred to as “Bugs Waddell,” specifically in the first and middle 1960’s, this bassist was a virtual fixture over the Uk blues scene. He proved helpful thoroughly with Dave Greenslade as an associate of Chris Farlowe’s Thunderbirds in the middle-1960’s; in addition they supported Farlowe (billed only a small amount Joe Make) on his saving of “Stormy Mon Blues” from 1965, originally released over the Sue Information label, and that was later applied to among the blues series connected with Martin Scorsese’s documentary about them. Waddell played a little in Hamburg, occasionally with fellow Thunderbirds guitarist Albert Lee and drummer Barry Jenkins from the Nashville Teenagers. In 1966, Jenkins — who at that time was an associate from the Pets — provided Waddell the opportunity to sign up for that group in a fresh line-up and was rejected (Danny McCulloch ultimately had taken the bassist place). Rather, he soldiered on and finally produced the Hill with drummer Colin Davey, key pad guy Peter Robinson, guitarist Steve Hammond, and cellist Paul Buckmaster. They used Chris Farlowe on his record From Right here To Mama Rosa.
