Bruce Gertz

A high bassist located in the Boston area, Gertz can be an extraordinary composer as shown by himself recordings. He started playing electric guitar when he was ten, switching towards the electrical bass (and afterwards acoustic) when he was 14, executing rock, blues and lastly jazz. He went to the Berklee University of Music and was shortly freelancing within the Boston region. Gertz ultimately became an educator himself, signing up for the faculty of Berklee. Being a bassist, Gertz spent some time working frequently with Mick Goodrick, Mike Stern and George Garzone and it has guested numerous top performers including Gil Evans, Bob Berg, Charles McPherson, Tom Harrell, Joe Lovano, Costs Frisell, Lee Konitz and many more. He also toured with Billy Eckstine, Maynard Ferguson, Gary Burton, Dave Brubeck and Jerry Bergonzi. Bruce Gertz offers led record classes for the Freelance and Ram memory labels.
