Chicago neo-soul duo Brown’s Handbag paired Ward Dark brown and Sherrod Dark brown (simply no relation), both longtime veterans from the Windy Town music scene. Relating to Bob Mehr’s profile in the June 30, 2006, release from the Chicago Audience, Ward Dark brown grew up nearby to blues immortal Muddy Waters, and spent the 1970s and early ’80s carrying out along with his siblings in some R&B show rings; in 1983 he authorized as an employee writer with the neighborhood Black Opening label, and ten years later on founded his personal studio, Early Recreation area Limited. Sherrod Dark brown was among the studio’s 1st clients. The child of Lyric Opera mainstay Willie Dark brown, he honed his abilities like a pianist, composer, and arranger for hire before teaming with Ward Dark brown in 1995 to create the R&B group Ruler Kat. When Sherrod relocated to Florida they dropped get in touch with, but upon his go back to Chicago in 2001, they resumed their collaboration, summoning the soul of old-school Chicago spirit to create and record the 1st Brown’s Handbag LP Labor of Like, issued in past due 2005 around the small indie Bush Guy Entertainment.
