Bronco Bullfrog

Biography

The three users from the Leicester and London-based Bronco Bullfrog — Andy Morten (drums, vocal), Mike Poulson (vocal, guitar), and Louis Wiggett (bass, vocal) — came collectively after playing in a variety of “neo-’60s” beat/psych rings. They made a decision to combine their musical passions — such as the most common power pop suspects, i.e. Big Celebrity, Raspberries, the Seaside Kids, the Beatles, the Who, the Hollies, etc., not forgetting a growing like for Southern California canyon rock and roll bands just like the Byrds and Buffalo Springfield — into one group. Acquiring their name from an obscure and gritty past due-’60s English film (starring acting professional Sam Shepard within the name part), Bronco Bullfrog ultimately began documenting at Y Studios in Leicester between Sept 1996 and Feb 1998. These recordings had been later gathered as their self-titled debut and released from the U.K.-centered Twist Records in 1998. A follow-up, seventhirtyeight, was released by Twist in 2000. Following its launch, the Madrid, Spain-based Mushroom Cushion Information reissued the band’s 1st album on Oct 1, 2000, and in Feb 2000, released The Sidelong Glances of the Pigeon Kicker, that was documented by Liam Watson at London’s Feet Rag Studios.
