Broken Hope

Chicago-based death metallic band Damaged Hope was created by singer Joe Ptacek, guitarist Jeremy Wagner, and drummer Ryan Stanek following a dissolution of the earlier band, Crypt. Adding business lead guitarist Brian Griffin and bassist Ed Hughes, the group’s early demos quickly gained them a agreement with Grind Primary Information, and in 1991 they released their debut LP Swamped in Gore. Jumping to Metallic Blade, Broken Wish resurfaced in 1993 with Bowels of Repugnance. Changing Hughes with ex-Sindrome bassist Shaun Cup, the band following released 1995’s Repulsive Conception, adopted two years later on by Loathing. Both Stanek and Cup exited ahead of documenting 1999’s Grotesque Blessings, and had been changed by drummer Duane Timlin and bassist Sean Baxter. Ptacek consequently left Broken Wish as well, leading to the addition of fresh vocalist Scott Creekmore.
