This Chicago band of mostly students didn’t like a lengthy tenure, but made the marvelous wailing ballad “Love Jones” in 1972. It had been a silver record and number-three R&B strike, and continues to be among classic spirit one-hit miracles. Their lead vocalist Darryl Lamont was 12; various other members had been Ralph Eskridge, Randolph Murph, and Larry Washington. The follow-up, “I Owe YOU LIKE,” barely produced the R&B Best 50, plus they were soon just a storage. Both songs had been released on 20th Hundred years Records.
