Briar

This pop rock quartet was formed in Birmingham, England, in 1983 by Kevin Griffiths (vocals, bass) and Daren Underwood (guitar). With Dave Fletcher (acoustic guitar) and Dean Make (drums), they released a self-financed one that was presented with significant airplay by BBC Radio 1 disk jockey Peter Powell. A Radio 1 live program was accompanied by a documenting contract with ROCK Records. Too Little surfaced in 1985, an over-produced affair which was full of light-weight electric guitar, high-pitched harmonies and anodyne lyrics. The record flopped as well as the music group was forced to come back to the membership circuit. UNDERTAKE THE PLANET, a self-financed cassette, premiered in 1986, and finally resulted in a fresh agreement with CBS Information. Half the record comprised an array of cover variations, including Richie Valens’ ‘La Bamba’ and Sister Sledge’s ‘Frankie’.
