Active through the entire following 30 years as participant and composer, once again largely self-taught, Dark brown was prominent in increasing the boundaries from the Australian jazz picture. Although he performed mainly tenor saxophone in the first phases of his profession, doubling on soprano, later on he leaned even more for the soprano and in addition performed flute.
