Breathe Owl Breathe is a Michigan-based trio that plays atmospheric, evocative acoustic-based music, fusing folk traditions using the adventurous approach of indie rock. Breathe Owl Breathe was created in Ann Arbor, MI by songwriter, vocalist, guitarist, and banjo picker Micah Middaugh and Andrea Moreno-Beals, a cellist who also contributes banjo and vocals. Middaugh was created and elevated in a little town in North Michigan, and he inherited his like of music from his dad, who performed a home-made banjo aswell as the concertina. Moreno-Beals was created in Colombia but spent the majority of her child years in Ann Arbor, where she shown a skill for the cello young. Moreno-Beals was provided scholarships to several music colleges after graduating from senior high school, but grew sick and tired of the strictures of traditional music. In 2001, she was launched to Middaugh with a shared friend throughout a trip to an ice-cream stand, and both became fast close friends and musical collaborators. (In addition they helped a pal having a VHS video video camera make a home-made zombie film the same night.) With the help of Lansing-based percussionist Trevor Hobbes, Breathe Owl Breathe became a three-piece, plus they started performing round the Midwest. In 2004, they released their 1st recording, The Fall Recording, through Earthwork Music, a collective of socially and environmentally mindful music artists. Climb In adopted in 2005, and Canadian Shield in 2008, as the group continuing to spread the term about their music though constant touring. Ghost Glacier was released on Compact disc, LP, and download forms in nov 2009, and another record was planned for release this year 2010. Middaugh and Moreno-Beals also collaborated with guitarist and vocalist Sari Brown within a aspect task, Three Spoons Make Three. The group came back in 2013 with another record, Passing of Pegasus, that included guest performances from Michael Hurley, Victoria Williams, Kyle Field of Small Wings and Eric D. Johnson (Fruits Bats, the Shins).
