Brainstorm

Inspired by both Frank Zappa as well as the Canterbury scene in England, the group Brainstorm surfaced in the first ’70s from Baden-Baden, in southwest Germany, with a brand new undertake experimental progressive jazz-rock. Brainstorm’s root base start in 1968, whenever a trio of schoolmates with conservatory schooling, Roland Schaeffer (saxophones, vibraphone, acoustic guitar, bass, vocals), Eddy von Overheidt (body organ, piano, vocals), and Jo Koinzer (drums and percussions), created the band Style Red with a few other guys. These were originally a blues-rock group, with some Red Floyd leanings, but had been quickly to branch out in to the more complex varieties of Frank Zappa, the Soft Machine, Caravan, while others. This group documented tracks using the Sudwestfunk (SWF) radio train station in several classes from 1969 to 1971. By that point, Rainer Bodensohn (flute, bass) experienced joined the music group. With growing target audience curiosity and their skillful playing, by 1972 the group garnered a two-album agreement with Spiegelei, a fresh label on Intercord to market progressive Krautrock. In the record company’s behest, the name was transformed, first to Style Prick, and when that as well was a lot more emphatically declined, Brainstorm.
