Brain Police

Acquiring their name from a vintage Frank Zappa tune (“Who will be the Mind Police force”), and their design from ‘60s psych and ‘70s hard rock and roll, as synthesized and modernized from the ‘90s stoner rock and roll movement, Gunnlaugur Lárusson (guitar), Hörður Stefánsson (bass), and Jón Björn Ríkarðsson (drums) created Mind Police force in Reykjavik, Iceland, in 1998. Vocalist Vagn Leví performed around the group’s self-produced debut, Glacier Sunlight, in 2000, but departed soon after Mind Police added a song for an Icelandic film known as Óskabörn Þjóðarinnar. The rest of the trio performed as an instrumental combo for quite a while before finding a fresh vocalist in Jens Ólafsson (ex-Toymachine), who produced his debut on 2002’s Grasp Mind EP, and helped Human brain Police become among Iceland’s most well-known bands following discharge of their eponymous second record and its own #1 radio strike, “Jacuzzi Suzi” in 2003. Following albums consist of 2004’s Electric Fungus infection and 2006’s Beyond the Wasteland, which presented brand-new guitarist Búi Bendtsen, and was reissued by American label Little Rock in January 2008.
